| Description: |
The Illinois State Board of Education requires Illinois schools in status to meet federal guidelines in their Improvement Planning by using the IIRC 2010 Template (found at the Interactive Illinois Report Card website). This workshop will assist school teams in utilizing the template to develop improvement plans that are data-driven, timely, and effective. The morning will focus on the content and format necessary in each section of the template to write a complete and approvable plan. The afternoon session will provide teams with an opportunity to work on their plans using the template. SIP teams, including an administrator, will want to attend as a group. Lunch is provided. This workshop is offered at no cost to participants. In addition, substitute reimbursement may also be available for qualifying Title I schools.

Visual Phonics: A Refresher
|
| Description: |
In this session, participants will learn the scope and sequence of these important scientifically-based reading research skills (SBRR). The presentation is research-based and will focus on Dr. Michael Heggerty's Phonemic Awareness curriculum. Participants will also learn effective ways to combine phonemic awareness skills with word identification skills. Student exemplars will be shown to demonstrate ways to evidence students' mastery of these important early literacy skills.
